If an Alert Mentions Self-Harm
Take the alert seriously and stay calm. An alert is a prompt to check in, not a diagnosis.
Ask directly and without judgment. Listen more than you talk. Do not leave a child alone if you believe they are in immediate danger.
Reach a trained counselor at any time in the United States by calling or texting 988.
Start the conversation: “I want to ask you something directly because I care about you, not because you are in trouble.”
